Yes, my fiancé and I are self-confessed health freaks! Don’t get me wrong, we indulge ourselves too. But in general, we put a lot of work in each day to stay in shape, so when planning a romantic night out we love it when we can do so without ruining the hard-work we’ve put in at the gym.

One of our favourite restaurants that offers delicious gourmet - and guilt-free - meals is Prana Fresh Food. Honestly, in terms of quality Prana just blows every other so-called “healthy” food establishment in Pereira out of the water. The first thing is, their meals are actually healthy and filling. Many times you will go to a restaurant and the healthy meals options are limited to basically a half-assed salad, or a so-called healthy meal that consists of a bunch of bread or pasta. This isn’t healthy food in our mind. When we go out for a healthy meal we want something that has a decent amount of protein and zero to low amounts of carbohydrates.

What I really love about Prana Fresh Food also is that they’ve actually put some effort into creating truly healthy versions of popular meals.

This is what Prana does really well, not only do they offer a great selection of low and zero carb meals, but they also offer low-carb and sugar free desserts too! So often a health food restaurant will just offer a load of salads, which is great but not everyone wants to eat just a salad on their night out. Prana Fresh Food offer delicious meals such as healthy Spaghetti Bolognese where the pasta is substituted with Zucchini noodles, or a carb free Lasagna.

They’re not perfect however, in my opinion they would do well to offer a few steaks and grill options for fellow Carnivore dieters like myself. But compared to most establishments in the Eje Cafetero, they’re one of the best places to eat for health conscious diners.

Prana Fresh Food has two well situated locations in the best neighborhoods in Pereira. One restaurant is inside the Patrono Food Hall in the Los Alamos restaurant, right next door to our top spot Carmela. They also have a small restaurant just outside of Parque Arboleda shopping center, which makes for a great change if you’re bored with the run of the mill fast-food joints on offer in the food hall at this top Pereira shopping mall.

Prana also do deliveries via the Rappi app, so if you’re at home and don’t fancy cooking but don’t want to ruin your diet either, order something from Prana and I assure you that you won’t be disappointed. I particularly recommend the Volcan de Chocolate dessert… zero carbs or sugar and tastes just absolutely delicious!!
